[Get Offa My Lawn!]

All politicians, political commentators, and politically inclined ordinary citizens, would you please be so kind as to leave me alone now?

I don’t mean just until the next campaign. I don’t want to hear from you at all. Ever.

Every time you start in, you manage to overstay your welcome long before anybody has even declared his or her candidacy. And again before the primary campaign has even started. And again before the convention…

You see where this is going?

Since the Constitution and its underlying principles no longer have any meaning, what say we throw it all over for a parliamentary system with all campaigns over and done with in six weeks? Sound good? Yes? No?

Whatever. Just don’t bother me with it anymore.

Update: Subsequent, politically-minimal content is on You Know Where the Band-Aids Are. Some of the fiction you may have formerly found on this blog before the election—Play Rough, Fight Dirty and a few related short stories—has been transplanted there as well.

Somebody will, I’m sure. Some will blame McCain, whose main misstep in this entire campaign was, well, deciding to run in the first place, and then being himself. It’s hard to fault a man for being himself.

Due to projections of a much larger than normal turnout and the fact so many polling places here are at schools, Coweta County opted to close the schools today.

Rather than let the Media Wing of the Obama Campaign do the same psy ops they tried in 2004, I’m going to spend tomorrow (technically, “later today”) away from my computer as much as possible.

Suicide jumper’s note begs Obama: “Take care of my family.“

Sure, why not? It’s not like he’ll have anything else to do.

Watching The Rocky Horror Picture Show on TV at home, alone, just doesn’t cut it.

[Our Times]

His Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee mysteries set on the Navajo reservation in Arizona and New Mexico, have been some of the most enjoyable mystery reading I’ve done in years.

I’m sure there’s still a book or two of his I haven’t read yet, but when I find a new title I’ll have to savor it. There won’t be any more coming.

[Our Times]
[Get Offa My Lawn!]

The chill I’m feeling this morning is not merely due to the crisp autumn weather. A number of news items indicate a pattern of “free-world” governments—including our own, prodded by congressional Democrats—seeking to outlaw information and criminalize speech.

I’m not the first to say it, and I won’t be the last—but people need to decide just what they intend to do. Preferably before they vote.
