This Christmas, one of the gifts I received from my wife’s aunt, uncle and two cousins, is a book called The 3:00 a.m. Epiphany. It’s a book of exercises in brief fiction—in the case of some of the earliest ones I’ve already looked at, 500 to 600 words. I decided on the spot that I would go ahead and play with these “prompts,“ as Aunt Linda calls them, and post them in my “Literary Pretensions” section.
So, watch this space.
